MOHAN Foundation speaks about organ donation to the Mumbai High court Nagpur Bench, Nagpur

  • On 17th January 2017, Mumbai High court Nagpur Bench, Nagpur, invited MOHAN Foundation to speak about organ donation to the advocates and office workers. Advocate Anjali Bhandarkar arranged the stall where MOHAN Foundation displayed information brochures, donor cards, standees and a banner. Mr.Bulu Behera & Ms. Kanchan Shewde Transplant coordinators managed the stall.

     Information given to the Mumbai High court, Nagpur Bench:

     Types of deaths.

    What can be donated after Brain Death, after Natural Death and while living.

    How is the waitlist for organ recipients done and where is it done?

    Who can donate organs and what is the value of a donor card?

    25 advocates and office staff visited the stall. After understanding about organ donation, 10 advocates and office staff took consent form, 5 of them signed the consent form and took the donor card, others said that they would sign the consent form after discussing with their family.

    1) What is the process of kidney transplant?

    2) Is heart transplant possible in Nagpur, if not then where and at what cost?

    3) Who is the important person that should sign the consent form?
