  • On 15th August 2017, MOHAN Foundation and its Angel of Change, Mr.N.P.Iyer were invited by Mrs. Manisha Kelkar, the President of Krishna Regency (Shahad) residential complex for conducting organ donation awareness on the occasion of Independence Day.

Many members of the society attended the session. Mr.Iyer started the talks with a brief discussion on the illnesses and lifestyle that tend to cause chronic organ failure and how one should keep themselves healthy.

Mrs.Jaya Jairam went on to explain what organ donation was, why it was the need of the hour, how one could go about it and who might need it. She explained to them the differences between brain death and natural death and which are the organs and tissues that can be donated in either cases.

She also went on to inform them about the myths and the facts related to organ donation. Mr.Iyer shared his personal story about how he lost his son to kidney disease and how that motivates him to spread awareness about organ donation. Mrs.Jaya Jairam also shared her own personal story of what she and her family had to go through when her kidneys had failed and how a kidney transplant saved her life.

Many members of the society took the pledge and signed up for the donor card. One of the members of the society had a family member who was ailing of kidney disease and he was counselled appropriately by Mrs.Jaya Jairam.

MOHAN Foundation is grateful to its Angel of Change, Mr.Iyer, Mrs and Mrs. Shashi Sharma of GIANTS Group of Kalyan Metro and Mrs. Manisha Kelkar, the President of the society for lending their support and working with us in the cause.
