Parents of 17-year-old Brain Dead Girl Decide on Organ Donation

17-year-old Payal, who was hit by a speeding car in Ghaziabad, in August this year was declared brain dead.

Even through their extreme grief and shock, Payal’s parents decided to do the most noble of service to mankind – organ donation.

The girl died, but her organs have managed or breathe life into five others who were critically in need of organs. The girl’s two corneas, two kidneys and liver have already been transplanted in five patients.

“It was an emotional decision for all of us. But we realized that our daughter was never going to return, so we decided to help others. The process of taking approvals from various authorities was arduous but we managed to do that in time”, said Ajay Mathur, Payal’s father.
