The family then called their family doctor for confirmation, and he declared Mr. Narang deceased. The doctor suspected that the cause of death may have been a cardiac arrest.

During the conversation, Ms. Bhavana shared that one of their relatives had suggested eye donation; therefore, the family expressed their wish to donate his eyes. Ms. Simran gently counselled the family regarding skin and bone donation as well; however, the family declined and decided to proceed only with eye donation.

Following this, Ms. Simran coordinated with Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital for the eye donation, and the retrieval team reached the residence and successfully retrieved the corneas.

The donor family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to MOHAN Foundation for the timely guidance and smooth coordination, which enabled the successful donation of corneas.

On the morning of February 1, 2026, at around 6:30 a.m., Mr. Hitesh Aggarwal, a resident of Dilshad Garden, Delhi, called the MOHAN Foundation helpline with a trembling voice. His 62-year-old mother, Mrs. Neelam Aggarwal, had just passed away. Amid deep grief, he was trying to fulfil her final wish of donating her organs.
Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader at MOHAN Foundation, Rishikesh, received the call and gently explained that organ donation is not possible in cases of natural death. However, he informed the family that eye donation, skin donation, and whole-body donation could still be considered. Mr. Hitesh shared that the family had already arranged eye donation with a nearby eye bank, but they needed support for skin donation. Understanding the urgency and emotions involved, Mr. Sanchit immediately connected the case with Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer at MOHAN Foundation NCR, for further coordination.
Mrs. Neelam Aggarwal was known among her family and relatives for her kindness and generosity. Throughout her life, she believed in giving, whether it was food to the hungry, clothes to the needy, or help to anyone in distress. Although donation was always close to her heart, she had never discussed organ or tissue donation with her family earlier.
A few days prior, Mrs. Neelam had been admitted to the hospital due to a kidney-related illness and was discharged on January 29, 2026. The family believed she was recovering. However, after returning home, her condition worsened and she began experiencing breathlessness. In the quiet hours of the night, her health deteriorated rapidly. Just two hours before her passing, Mrs. Neelam expressed her desire to donate her organs.
For Mr. Hitesh and his family, her request came as a surprise, as they had never heard her speak about donation before. Yet, they understood that her wish reflected her lifelong values and spirit of giving. After her passing in the early hours of February 1, 2026, the family made a courageous decision to honour her final wish despite their immense loss.
Ms. Simran coordinated closely with the family, collected all necessary details with sensitivity, and connected with the Skin Bank at Safdarjung Hospital. The retrieval team soon reached the residence, and the skin donation procedure was completed successfully with dignity and respect.
In their moment of grief, the Aggarwal family found meaning in Mrs. Neelam’s final act of generosity. Her skin donation will help burn victims and patients in need, offering them hope and healing. The family expressed heartfelt gratitude to MOHAN Foundation for the timely guidance and smooth coordination that made the donation possible.
