Stories of Donation (yearwise)

Stories of Donation for the year 2025

Recent impactful event 1:

Late Ms. Promila Rani Chakravarty will always be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit. She believed in celebrating life and spreading love in every possible way — through her simplicity, her welcoming nature, and the genuine care she extended to everyone around her. Giving came naturally to her, and in keeping with her spirit, it was her wish that even beyond her passing, she would continue to touch lives and help others.

On August 12, 2025, at 10:50 a.m., Dr. Anita Hada, a MOHAN Foundation (MF) Helpline Counsellor, received a call from Mr. Pankaj Dua enquiring about the possibility of corneal donation for his relative, Ms. Promila Rani Chakravarty. To gather further details, Dr. Anita requested the immediate family’s contact information and was connected with Mr. Arjun, Ms. Promila’s grandson. During their conversation, Mr. Arjun shared that his grandmother had passed away at home due to age-related factors and had been declared deceased by a Registered Medical Practitioner at around 10:30 a.m.

Recognizing the family’s openness, Dr. Anita gently suggested the option of skin donation as well. The family discussed and promptly agreed. She then shared the details in MF’s helpline group. Soon after, Ms. Sanya reached out to the family to coordinate the process and gather the required information. Mr. Arjun also informed her that the funeral ceremony would take place later that evening. After confirming there was no history of sepsis or communicable diseases, Ms. Sanya guided the family on preserving the corneas to prevent them from drying.

Thanks to the family’s compassionate decision, Ms. Promila’s eyes were donated through Guru Nanak Eye Bank, New Delhi, and her skin was retrieved by the Safdarjung Skin Bank, New Delhi. These donations will go on to restore sight, heal wounds, and transform lives — a lasting gift born from love and generosity.

MOHAN Foundation salutes the Chakravarty family and honours the legacy of Late Ms. Promila Rani Chakravarty — a woman who lived with love, gave with grace, and, even in her passing, continues to spread light and healing to others.

Late Ms. Chanchal Ahuja was a gentle soul whose life reflected love, humility, and selflessness. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, and her kindness extended far beyond her home, touching the lives of many. Always ready to help the needy and comfort those in hardship, she left behind a legacy of compassion that continues to inspire.

On the night of August 2, 2025, at 10:45 p.m., her son, Mr. Ritesh Ahuja of Greater Noida West, Uttar Pradesh, made a heartfelt call to the MOHAN Foundation helpline to fulfil his mother’s wish of helping others, even in death. The call was received by Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader at MOHAN Foundation (MF) stationed at AIIMS Rishikesh, who promptly shared the details with Ms. Sanya Santosh, Programme Officer, MF NCR, while also posting them in MF’s helpline group. Ms. Sanya immediately contacted the family to coordinate the case and gather the required information.

Mr. Ritesh shared that his mother, bedridden with a history of cardiac ailments, had collapsed at home and suffered a cardiac arrest. She was declared deceased at 10:45 p.m. by a Registered Medical Practitioner. After confirming there was no history of sepsis or communicable diseases, Ms. Sanya gently guided the family on how to preserve the corneas to prevent them from drying.

To honour Ms. Chanchal’s spirit of giving, Ms. Sanya coordinated with ICARE Eye Hospital and Post Graduate Institute, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Pankaj, eye banktechnician, along with the eye bank team, promptly arrived at the residence and successfully retrieved the corneas at 1:45 a.m. on August 3, 2025.

MOHAN Foundation salutes the Ahuja family for their generosity and honours the legacy of Late Ms. Chanchal Ahuja - a woman who lived to give, and even in her passing, gave the gift of sight and healing to strangers. May her soul rest in peace, and may her light continue to shine through those who now see and live more fully because of her.
