  Ms. Janani, 5, was the only girl child in the family. She was called "Bommayi (doll)" by everyone as she was very pretty. One fateful morning, as Janani was playing at the entrance of her aunt's house, she suddenly ran on to the road. A milk van, which was passing by, hit her and she sustained a severe head injury. She was given first-aid in a hospital nearby and then rushed to Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore. She was then shifted to the Government General Hospital, Chennai, where she was declared brain dead.
  
  Even in the midst of this tragedy, the family members agreed to donate the organs of their beloved daughter. In a unique twist of fate, her kidneys were transplanted to her own father who was on dialysis for the past four years. Janani passed on the gift of life to her father and five other people.
