Mr. Kishan Kumar Chawla was a kind-hearted and compassionate person who always believed in helping others. He owned a wholesale garment business in Chandni Chowk and was well respected by everyone who knew him. Since his younger days, he actively participated in seva (selfless service) and believed that even the smallest act of kindness could make a meaningful difference in someone's life.
Inspired by the same spirit of service, Mr. Chawla had pledged to donate his eyes and had shared this wish with his family and friends. on several occasions. He believed that eye donation could restore sight and transform someone's life. Because he had openly expressed his decision, his family was aware of how important this final wish was to him.
Mr. Chawla passed away due to a cardiac arrest around 11:00 AM on June 26, 2026. Despite their grief, his wife and children chose to honour his wish by consenting to the donation of his corneas, reflecting the values of compassion and generosity that he had lived by.
The family informed Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader, MOHAN Foundation Rishikesh, who is a distant relative. Knowing Mr. Chawla's wish to donate his eyes, Mr. Arora immediately guided the family through the donation process. He shared the contact details of Mr. Amit Chawla, the deceased's son, with Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer, MOHAN Foundation NCR who promptly coordinated with the ICARE Eye Hospital & Post Graduate Institute, Noida. The eye bank team reached the family's residence in time and successfully retrieved Mr. Chawla's corneas for transplantation.
Through this final act of generosity, Mr. Kishan Kumar Chawla's legacy of compassion and selfless service will continue to live on by giving the gift of sight to others.
