  • Mr. Dulal Chandra  Nandi- 76 Years

    Mr. Dulal Chandra Nandi was a resident of North Jolaibari in the Santirbazar subdivision of South Tripura. Born on September 26, 1951, he completed his higher secondary education at Jolaibari Higher Secondary School. He served as a government employee in the Forest Department and worked across various parts of the state. Throughout his career, he was known for his dedication, discipline, sincerity, and integrity.

    Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mr. Nandi had a deep passion for cooking and remained equally devoted to his family. From an early age, he displayed a compassionate nature and was always willing to help those in need, offering both practical support and financial assistance whenever possible. As a loving father of three children, he worked tirelessly to provide them with opportunities for a better future and stood by them through every stage of life.

    Although he was our elder brother, he behaved like a friend to every member of the family,¯ recalled his younger brother. Mr. Nandi took responsibility for family matters and remained actively involved in every aspect of household life. He was widely respected for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to support others. His son, Mr. Somen Nandi, remembered him as a person who never hesitated to help those in need. He also regularly contributed towards the renovation of temples and other community infrastructure projects for the benefit the society.

    On May 20, 2026, Mr. Dulal Chandra Nandi was found unconscious at his residence by family members. He was immediately taken to North Jolaibari Community Health Centre (CHC) by his son, Mr. Somen Nandi, at around 12:00 noon. Upon examination, the attending physician declared him dead at approximately 1:36 PM.

    Mr. Nandi had pledged to donate his eyes and whole body in 2013 and had openly shared his decision with his family. Respecting his wishes, the family consented to both cornea and whole-body donation following his passing.

    The donation process was facilitated through the coordinated efforts of the MOHAN Foundation, the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO), Tripura, hospital authorities, the eye bank team, and the family.

    Despite the profound grief of losing their beloved father, the family of Mr. Dulal Chandra Nandi displayed remarkable courage and composure. By honouring his pledge and consenting to the donation of his corneas and whole body, they transformed their loss into a meaningful gift that will contribute to medical education and help improve the lives of others.
