Webinar on Organ Donation for students of Department of Social Work, The American College, Madurai

  • On 7th March, 2022, a webinar talk on organ donation was held in The American College, Madurai through google meet. 90 students from the Department of Social work and 60 students from the NCC Airforce Wing participated in the session.

     

    The session  started with a welcome address by  a student. Ms. Preetha Baskar, Project Executive Public Awareness and Helpline gave a talk on concepts, myths, statistics, and other relevant facts on organ donation. She explained brain death, what organs can be donated while living and after death, need for organs and the importance of deceased organ donation. She also elaborated about donor card and its importance, additional information on eye, skin and whole body donation was also provided.  A video was screened that explained Brain Death.

     

    Dr. Hemal Kanvinde spoke about MOHAN Foundation’s short-term and long-term courses to become a Transplant Coordinator. She also explained important aspects of counseling through a recipient’s story.  At the end a motivational video was also played.

     

    The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Ashwini Veronica. MOHAN Foundation thanks  Dr. M. Davamani Christober, Principal, The American College and Dr. T. Augustus Julian Lazmey, Head, Department of Social Work for their consent to conduct an awareness session to the students of the social work department. We also appreciate Mr. Alan Potter for the coordination.
