Visit by MSW students, SDNB Vaishnav College for Women

  • On 19th July 2013, Ist year Master of Social Work (MSW) students of SDNB Vaishnav College of Women, Chennai visited the MOHAN Foundation office in Kilpauk, Chennai. There were 18 participants. This session was organized as part of their field work curriculum.

     

    Ms. Sujatha Niranjan, Manager Information Systems, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai welcomed the group and gave an introductory talk about the organization. She spoke about the administrative pattern, staffing pattern and about funding. Following that; Ms. Kavitha, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai educated them about the concept of brain death, Transplantation of Human Organs (THO) Act, 1994 and also, enumerated the activities of MOHAN Foundation. The students actively participated in the session. They were especially moved by the narration of real stories from the Transplant Coordinators point of view.

     

    Every student assured to do their bit in spreading the word about organ donation. They were each handed a donor card which they duly signed and promised to talk about their decision to their families. At the end, Ms. Esther, one of the students delivered the vote of thanks.
