Updated on Thursday, January 12, 2012
  • On 11th January 2012, a talk on Organ Donation and the role that Healthcare Students can play was given to the first year students pursuing the Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Hospital Management (PGDHHM) at IIHMR (International Institute of Health and Management Research), New Delhi. Around 120 students were present during the talk along with a few faculties.

The session started with the need to bridge the gap between requirement and availability of organs for patients suffering from end-stage organ failure. Other aspects covered were the broad guidelines on organ retrieval and transplant, the entire supply chain involved in transporting organs from the Donor to the Recipient, dispelling myths on organ donation etc. Organ Donor Cards were shared with students who wanted to pledge their organs. Few students even asked for extra cards for their family members and friends.

Future prospects in partnering with MOHAN Foundation as a volunteer or intern were also discussed with the students and the Dean of the institution.
