Sensitization programme on organ donation conducted at Nrityanjali Dance Class, Bhandup, Mumbai

  • On 27th February, 2022 Ms. Rashmi Shetty conducted an awareness session on organ donation for the students of Nrityanli  Dance Class at Bhandup. Ms. Sangeetha, dance teacher was interested to pledge her organs and know more about organ donation, so Ms. Sangeetha and Ms. Gunjitha invited Ms. Rashmi to conduct this session.

    Ms. Rashmi started her Power Point Presentation by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its activities.

    Thereafter, she discussed the below concepts about organ donation

    1. What is organ donation?
    2. What comes to your mind when you think of organ donation?
    3. Age limit to donate organs
    4. Who can donate? – Living donors and Deceased donors
    5. Types of death- Brain death and Circulatory death
    6. Concept of Brain death was explained with example
    7. Which organs and tissues can be donated after Brain death and Circulatory death?
    8. Myths and Facts about Organ donation were discussed.
    9. MOHAN Foundation Helpline number was displayed to the audience.

     

    She stressed about pledging the organs with the audience so that they can save and enhance many lives. 9 participants participated in the session; all of them were interested to pledge their organs. The session was interactive; participants actively participated in the session and expressed their opinion.

     

    Questions asked by the participants were as follows:

    1. Whom should we contact for whole body donation?
    2. How is skin donation done?

     

    We thank Ms. Sangeetha and Ms. Gunjitha for inviting us to sensitize the students about organ donation and also for supporting the cause of organ donation.
