Organ Donation Awareness Session at Gram panchayat, Manegaon

  • On January 17, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur, conducted an Organ Donation Awareness Session at Gram panchayat Manergaon, Bhandara, as part of its efforts to raise awareness about organ donation in rural communities.

    The session was facilitated by Ms. Neha Sailwar and Mr. Dhiraj Kurve on behalf of MOHAN Foundation. The programme began with Ms. Neha Sailwar introducing MOHAN Foundation and sharing information about the history, objectives and Pan-India work of the organization. She explained the concept of organ donation, who can donate the organs, details about Anudaan, MOHAN Foundation Pan-India helpline number, and the training programmes offered by the Foundation.

    Following this, Mr. Dhiraj Kurve shared his experience as a Transplant Coordinator and explained what brain stem death is, along with the difference between circulatory death and brain stem death. He also discussed the age limits for organ donation, explained the body donation process, and guided participants on how to take a pledge for organ donation. To enhance understanding, he shared real-life stories related to organ donation and transplantation.

    An interactive question-and-answer session was conducted, during which participants raised queries related to organ donation, brain death, and the pledge process. All questions were addressed clearly by the MOHAN Foundation team.

    The programme saw participation from 325 villagers, who actively engaged in the awareness session. The session concluded with positive engagement from the community, reflecting increased awareness and understanding of organ donation. MOHAN Foundation sincerely thanks the Grampanchayat Manergaon authorities and the villagers for their cooperation, participation, and support in making this awareness session successful.
