Sensitization Program on Organ Donation at Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Minuthong, Imphal

  • On July 18, 2022, Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, MOHAN Foundation and Ms. Th. Udayini Khuman, Transplant Co-ordinator, MOHAN Foundation visited Urban Primary Health Centre, Minuthong, Manipur to deliver a talk on organ donation.

     

    The session was attended by Dr. Thokchom Raikumar Singh, Medical Officer In-Charge, Dr. Sabanam Choudhury, Medical Officer, Ms. B. Amusana Devi, Nursing In-Charge, Mr. Y. Gunamani Singh, Laboratory Technician, the nursing staffs along with ASHA workers working under Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Minuthong, Imphal.

     

    Ms. Laishram Monica Devi started the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its objectives and mission to promote organ donation in the society. For more lucid information, the session was conducted in Manipuri language.

     

    Points discussed while delivering the talk :-

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor.
    • The status of organ donation in India and in Manipur.
    • The present scenario of corneal donation in some particular region.
    • The facts and myths on organ donation.
    • Difference between circulatory death, brain death and coma.
    • Importance of the donor card.
    • How to pledge or sign up for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation's website.
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     

    The talk concluded with Q&A session. The MF representatives addressed all the queries of the participants. The team also extended their support in initiating more such awareness activities in their upcoming community health programmes.

     

    Close to 27 participants attended the session.
