Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (ROTTO) – State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO), Mumbai, in collaboration with the Mumbai Association of Liver Transplant, held a workshop for doctors on cadaver retrieval and surgery from January 5-6, 2023 at the Urology Department of K.E.M. Hospital in Mumbai. Around 50 surgeons participated in this workshop.
Dr. Hynek Mergental, a leading transplant surgeon from Birmingham, UK, demonstrated multi-organ retrieval to the surgeons and gave hands-on training on fresh cadavers. Teams from different parts of India attended the workshop.
On January 7-8, 2023, a sensitization and advocacy workshop was organized at Alibag, Mumbai. The focus of this workshop was brain death and organ donation. Joint civil surgeons, doctors, medical staff, and paramedical staff from Civil Hospital and Medical College, Alibag, attended the whole day program. During the workshop, senior transplant coordinators from Mumbai and Pune and the consultant from ROTTO Chandigarh shared their experiences.
