Organ donation awareness for NSS Volunteers of Bharath University

  • An online awareness on organ donation was held for the NSS volunteers of Bharath University, Chennai. Around 26 students and NSS program coordinators joined the session. Dr Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer and Ms Preetha Baskar from MOHAN foundation conducted the sessions.

     

    Ms Preetha, gave an elaborate presentation on the concepts, myths, law, what, when, how and why of organ donation. She narrated a story of a hand transplant recipient and another of a pediatric donation. For a better understanding of what brain stem death is, a short video explaining brain stem death was played. A video of a heart transplant video was screened to show how life has changed for him after receiving the gift of life.

     

    Dr Hemal commenced the last session. She ignited the minds of the audience with the ideas of spreading or promoting organ donation. A variety of creative ideas were shown to the students. This was to help the NSS volunteers to come up with new ideas to spread awareness on organ donation as a part of their work.
