On March 3, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ and tissue donation awareness session at LatentView Analytics, Taramani Chennai. The programme was organized in a hybrid mode, with 25 participants attending online from offices in Mumbai and Gurugram and 8 participants joining in person, ensuring wider outreach and engagement.
The session commenced with a comprehensive talk by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer, who provided in-depth insights into organ donation. She addressed common myths and misconceptions, highlighted the urgent need for organ donors in India, and clearly explained the concepts of brain death and coma, emphasizing the medical and legal aspects of brain death. She also elaborated on the time frame for organ retrieval after death and the critical role of timely consent from family members.
To enhance understanding, a short educational video on brain death was screened, helping participants grasp why brain death is irreversible and how it differs from other medical conditions. The visual presentation made the concept clearer and encouraged thoughtful discussion among the attendees.
Following this, Ms. Kanishka, Project Executive, delivered a detailed session on cornea donation. She spoke about the importance and need for eye donation, clarified myths and facts, and explained the simple procedures involved. She also highlighted the precautions to be taken immediately after death to ensure successful eye donation and stressed the importance of pledging and communicating one’s decision with family members.
The session was interactive, with participants actively raising questions and expressing interest in supporting organ donation awareness initiatives. Many common queries were discussed, including who is eligible to become an organ donor, the difference between brain death and coma, whether individuals with conditions such as diabetes can donate organs, and if there is any age limit for organ and tissue donation. Participants were also curious about how the organ allocation process works, who decides the recipient, and whether organ donation would affect regular funeral procedures. These discussions helped clarify misconceptions and strengthened their overall understanding of the organ donation process. Informational brochures were distributed to attendees, and additional pamphlets were placed at the office reception counter for other team members to access.
MOHAN Foundation sincerely thanks the management and CSR team of LatentView Analytics for their cooperation and for providing the opportunity to conduct this meaningful awareness programme.
