Organ Recipients and more than 100 Runners run the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020 promoting Organ Donation

  • On 19th January 2020, more than 100 runners ran various categories at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020, including the Dream Run, 10 KM run and the Half Marathon (21KM), raising awareness about organ donation and in support of MOHAN Foundation’s work.

    A few organ recipients, part of MOHAN Foundation’s Organ Recipient Support Group called TRIOMPH (Transplant Recipient’s Indian Organisation Meant to Provide Hope) joined the Dream Run, thereby sending a strong message across that Organ Recipients get to lead good lives once they get the life-saving organs through organ donation and transplantation.

    Rest of the runners ran in support of the cause. They all ran wearing MOHAN Foundation’s T-Shirt’s with messages of #ProudOrganDonor

    Mrs Jaya Jairam herself a Kidney Recipient and Project Manager of MOHAN Foundation, Mumbai motivated and inspired all recipients and others supporting the cause to come forward to form this unique group which included Senior Citizens, Liver Recipient Mr. Naresh Vaidya, Kidney recipients, Mr Kishore Suryavanshi (a Limca Book record holder), Mr. Prakash Correa and Miss. Shreya Siddanagowder, India’s first Bilateral Upper Hand Transplant recipient.

    All participants of this unique group enjoyed dancing, singing and chanting slogans in support of organ donation to spread awareness and motivate others to take the Organ donation pledge. The Dreamrun runners walked with Placards specially handmade by Children and students of age 9 to 21 years, with beautiful artwork and messages in support of organ donation. All the finishers received medals.
