On June 20, 2026, Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, set up an organ donation information desk at the blood donation camp organised by Wisdom Superspeciality Hospital in association with the MOHAN Foundation, Loving Hearts Goa, and the North Goa District Hospital Blood Bank.
The camp was held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the hospital premises and received an encouraging response from donors, particularly hospital staff, who came forward enthusiastically to support the life-saving cause. Out of 43 registrations, 34 individuals were found eligible and successfully donated blood.
As a token of appreciation, every blood donor received a certificate from Loving Hearts Goa and a potted plant from the hospital. While the donors relaxed and enjoyed refreshments after their donation, Gabriel Pereira interacted with them and shared valuable information about organ donation. He addressed frequently asked questions, clarified common misconceptions, and encouraged participants to learn more about the cause through the informational leaflets provided.
During his interaction, Gabriel highlighted the impact of donation, stating that while a blood donor can help save up to three lives with a single donation, an organ donor can save up to eight lives and enhance the lives of more than fifty others through tissue donation. He explained that in cases of circulatory death, tissue and whole-body donation may be possible, whereas organ donation is generally possible only in cases of brain death, subject to the consent of the family and the medical suitability of the organs for transplantation.
All 43 donors were encouraged to consider pledging their organs by scanning the QR code provided on the leaflet and registering as organ donors. The awareness initiative aimed to inspire participants to extend their spirit of giving beyond blood donation and become ambassadors of the "Gift of Life."
At the conclusion of the programme, Gabriel Pereira expressed his sincere gratitude to Dr Vardhan Bhobe, Director of Wisdom Super Speciality Hospital; Dr Haradatt R. Karande, Chairman of the hospital; and Mr Chetan, PRO of the hospital, for their wholehearted support and commitment towards promoting both blood donation and organ donation awareness.
The event successfully combined two noble causes—blood donation and organ donation awareness—reinforcing the message that a single decision to donate can transform and save countless lives.
