Organ Donation Awareness for Social Work Students in Nagpur

  • On 10th December 2021, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ms. Nandita Mane, the English Lecturer of Matru Sewa Sangh Institute of Social Work (MSSISW) in Bajaj Nagar, Nagpur to create awareness about organ donation among the students of the institute.

    Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant coordinator of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur addressed the students virtually and spoke about the following:

    • What is organ donation and who can donate organs?
    • Natural death and brain death
    • Difference between coma and brain death?
    • What organs/tissues can be donated when alive and after death?
    • Eye donation process
    • Body donation process
    • After death whom to contact for organ donation
    • Role of NOTTO, ROTTO, SOTTO & ZTCC
    • Organ Transplant Act 1994
    • Hand transplant
    • MOHAN Foundation’s activities
    • Importance of the Helpline number and donor cards

    Approximately 50 students were present during the talk, and 10 of them expressed their willingness to sign up as organ donors. Ms. Nandita Mane delivered the vote of thanks as the session ended.
