Organ Donation Awareness at Cloudnine Hospital, Bengaluru

  • Ms. Roopa (HR, Cloudnine Hospital) invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an awareness session for the staff of Cloudnine Hospital, Kanakpura Road branch in Bengaluru on 20th October 2021. Around 38 people from the hospital attended the session. MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mr. Marulappa, Transplant Coordinator and Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS, Project Manager.

    Mrs. Ranjini began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision. She then explained the concept of organ and tissue donation, types of death - cardiac death and brain death, brain death declaration and apnea test. The procedure involved in deceased organ donation and living organ donation were explained elaborately. Eye, skin and bone donation, barriers to organ donation, common myths and facts related to organ donation and their impact on organ donation rates were covered as well.

    She briefly explained the role of Jeevasarthakathe, transplant law and the importance of a donor card. The audience were very encouraging, actively participated, and expressed their support for the concept of ‘Gift of Life.’ All those who attended signed up as organ donors and a few also collected donor cards for their family members. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Ms. Roopa and the management of Cloudnine Hospital for the opportunity.
