Organ Donation Awareness Stall at ABCO Advisory Services India, Guindy

  • On 08.10.2013, ABCO Advisory Services India, Guindy requested Cadaver Transplant Programme to organize a session on Organ Donation for their employees. The session was facilitated by Mr. Prakash K, Transplant Coordinator MOHAN Foundation, Chennai. A group of 50 employees visited the stall and he spoke to the participants about the importance of Organ Donation.

     

    The following topics were explained to the visitors  at the stall:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Brain Death- how it is different from natural death and coma
    • Who can donate organs and tissues and which of these are donated
    • Importance of the consent from the family
    •  Importance of donor card
    • Information sources – website and helpline

     

    The participants raised several queries about organ sharing and allocation, where the organ donation to take place, whom to be contacted in case of emergency. The queries were answered by Transplant Coordinator. At the end of the session, 40 employees showed their support for the cause by taking a pledge to become an organ donor.
