Organ Donation Awareness Session at KDDL Unit 3, Peenya, bengaluru

  • On 3rd February 2026, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an organ donation awareness session for the staff of KDDL Limited, Unit III, Bracelet Dabaspete Industrial Area, Bengaluru, from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM.

    The session was conducted by Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram, Country Head, MOHAN Foundation, and was accompanied by Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS, Project Manager, and Mr. Nagendra Kumar R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation.

    Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram initiated the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission and vision, and explained in detail the procedure of corneal donation.

    Following this, Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS continued the session and explained the following concepts in detail:

    • Concepts of organ and tissue donation
    • Types of death: cardiac death and brain death
    • Brain death and the declaration process
    • Procedures for deceased organ donation and living organ donation
    • Procedures for tissue donation (bone, skin, and heart valves)
    • Myths and facts related to organ donation and its impact on society
    • Role of Jeevasarthakathe
    • Importance of the donor card

    Towards the end of the session, the audience raised several queries, which were answered by Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS. The questions raised included:

    • Transportation: Who bears the cost of transportation?
    • Cost: Will the donor family have to pay additional hospital charges?
    • The difference between the brain death and the coma

    Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS motivated the staff to take the pledge for organ donation.

    A total of 25 staff members attended the session, and 25 participants supported the cause by taking the pledge for organ donation. Brochures and donor cards were distributed at the end of the session.

    Towards the end of the session, Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram, Country Head, MOHAN Foundation, inspired the audience by sharing her personal experience of donating her son, Mr. Swamy Narayana’s organs, which helped save the lives of five individuals. She further addressed the audience by speaking about the movie “Aye Zindagi”, highlighting its message on organ donation and the value of life.
