Online Course on Transplant Coordination Professional Certificate (February 16, 2024 - March 30, 2024)

  • The MOHAN Foundation concluded a six-week online course on 'Transplant Coordination Professional Certificate' from February 16 to March 30, 2024. The course attracted 54 participants from across India and one from the United Arab Emirates.

    Participants accessed course materials and resources via an e-learning platform. The curriculum included online assignments and assessments, providing ample opportunities for participants to deepen their understanding. This structure facilitated a comprehensive learning experience, enabling participants to engage actively with the content and apply their knowledge effectively.

    The training included weekly interactive webinars with organ donation and transplantation experts, enhancing participant engagement. Candidates actively interacted with speakers, fostering a dynamic learning environment.

    The webinars focused on essential topics related to:

    • Concepts of organ donation and transplantation
    • Transplantation of human organs act and its provisions
    • Brainstem death - Concept, identification and certification
    • Counselling grieving families and approaching them for organ donation
    • Role of donor coordinator in deceased donor transplant programme
    • Coordinating living donor transplant
    • Ethical aspects of organ donation and transplantation

    • Mr. Mathew Joseph Sabu, Transplant Coordinator, St John's Medical College Hospital, Bengaluru
    • Mr. Yuvaraj Boopathi, Manager, Liver Transplant Coordination, KIMS Hospitals, Hyderabad
    • Ms. Jaya Jairam, Project Director, MOHAN Foundation  
    • Ms. Sujatha Suriyamoorthi, Associate Director - Courses, MOHAN Foundation

    A course completion certificate was issued to 41 candidates (out of 54) who successfully fulfilled the course requirements through an online examination held on March 30, 2024.
