One Week Transplant Coordinators' Training Programme, Hyderabad

    A One week Transplant Coordinators' Training Programme was held at CARE Hospitals, Nampally, Hyderabad from 1st to 5th July 2013 . The Training Programme was partly supported by CARE Hospitals, Nampally. 21 participants from social and Nursing background attended the training programme.

     

    The Programme was inaugurated by lighting lamp. Dignitaries were Dr. D N Kumar, Medical Director, CARE Hospitals, Nampally along with other eminent doctors of CARE Hospitals Dr P B N Gopal, Dr. Sastry, Dr. Radhakrishna, Dr. Hussani.

     

    The training programme covered various topics like What is Organ Donation, Brain Stem Death Declaration, The Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994, Grief Counseling, Role of Donor and Recipient Coordinator, Kidney Transplantation, Heart and Lung Transplantation, Nutrition- Pre and Post Transplantation, Case studies discussions. Films on Public Education on Organ donation, Religion & Organ donation, Organ Procurement and Brain stem death declaration were screened.

     

    The programme focused more on practical sessions like Role play on Grief counseling and creating Public Education materials. These sessions helped participants to understand and to be able to react in the real life scenario.

     

    The valedictory function was held on 5th July 2013. Dr. Radhakrishna, Neurophysician and Dr. Hussaini, Nephrologist of CARE Hospital, Nampally presented certificates to the participants. MOHAN Foundation team was felicitated by CARE team with mementos.
