One Week Transplant Coordinators’ Training Programme, Hyderabad

    The one week Transplant Coordinators’ Training Programme was organized at Sunshine Hospital, Hyderabad. This is the second such training programme in Hyderabad. There were 22 participants with mixed group of nurses, Medical social workers and Transplant coordinators.

    The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp, Dignitaries were Mr. Mohan who donated his wife Ms. Lakshmi’s organs, and Mr. Krishna Wadi who lost his daughter because of not getting an organ at the right time.

    The topics covered in the programme ranged from Organ donation and its importance, Declaration of Brain death, The Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994, Role of Transplant Coordinator, Technical sessions on Kidney, Liver and Heart Transplantation, Deceased Donor Programme, Advocacy for Organ Donation and also Transplant coordinators who are working
    shared their experience with case studies.

    The topics covered in the training addressed the importance of Transplant Coordinators’ and made audience to understand their essential role. The mock session of grief counseling took
    participants to real life situation of understanding and being part of the scenario.

    The programme came to a close with Valedictory function where Dr. Gurava Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of Sunshine Hospital, presented certificates to the participants who attended the programme.
