Ms. Pallavi Kumar was invited by NOTTO to speak on ''Grief Counselling and Making the Ask for Organ Donation'' at the ''9th Batch Transplant Coordinators Training'' organised at Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre (JPNATC), New Delhi.

  • On November 28, 2023, The National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) invited Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director of the MOHAN Foundation, NCR, to speak at the Transplant Coordinators Training for their 9th batch from November 28 to December 2, 2023, on the topic of "Grief Counselling and Making the Ask for Organ Donation." The training was held at the New Seminar Hall, First floor, JPNATC, AIIMS, New Delhi.

     

    Ms. Kumar was also accompanied by Dr. Muneet Kaur Sahi, Programme Manager, MF NCR; Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer, MF NCR; and Ms. Sanya Santosh, Programme Officer, MF NCR.

     

    Dr. Anil Kumar, the Director of NOTTO, welcomed and introduced all of the speakers and delegates. The training was attended by medical and nursing officers placed at various Army Command Hospitals across India.

     

    The workshop covered various topics, such as:

    • Brain stem death certification – Practical tips
    • Donor Management
    • Legal aspects of organ donation
    • Grief Counselling
    • Documentation and workflow of organ donor from ED to retrieval.

     

    Ms. Pallavi addressed the following topics with the help of a PowerPoint presentation:

    • Breaking the news of death
    • Stages of grief
    • Making the ask for organ donation – why and how it should be done
    • Decoupling – timing of the request for organ donation

     

    Close to 60 participants attended the session.
