MOHAN Foundation was invited to participate in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra 3-day campaign organised by the District Administration, Imphal-East

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited to participate in the 3-day campaign called “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra” held from December 18–20, 2023, organised by the District Administration, Imphal-East. Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, and Ms. Thoidingjam Udayini Khuman, Transplant Coordinator, participated in the campaign by representing MOHAN Foundation.

     

    The yatra was launched on November 15, 2023, to raise awareness through outreach activities to achieve saturation of flagship schemes for providing basic amenities like sanitation facilities, essential financial services, access to LPG connections, housing for the poor, food security, proper nutrition, reliable healthcare, clean drinking water, quality education, etc., and making required services accessible to all targeted and eligible beneficiaries.

     

    Dr. L. Indira Devi, Chief Medical Officer, Imphal-East, contacted the MOHAN Foundation team and invited them to take part as an official for the Health Department. The programme was flagged off by Ms. Diana Khumanthem, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal-East District on December 18, 2023. Officials from different departments like agriculture, health, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, banks, rural development and livelihoods, the Indian Post Office, etc. attended it. Mr. Ngangbam Jogendro Khumancha, Additional District Magistrate, Imphal-East District, coordinated the whole programme.

     

    Day 1:

    The programme for Day 1 comprised of two sessions: Session 1 was held at Top Naoriya of Porompat Block, and Session 2 was held at Luwangshangbam, Block Development Office.

    Each speaker, an official from different departments, contributed to the session. Among them, Ms. Monica delivered a talk on organ donation as a contribution from the Health Department.

     

    Md. Ghulam Mustafa, Joint Secretary and State Nodal Officer, Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and Ayushman Bhava Campaign, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), attended the second session of the programme, where he delivered the importance and key highlights of the campaign.

     

    Day 2:

    The session was held at the Block Office-Sawombung. Officials posted at different healthcare institutes spoke on available health schemes and programmes under the central and state governments. A health screening desk was also set up to screen participants who were presented in the programme.

     

    Day 3:

    The last-day session was held at Langdum-Keirao Bitra Block. The key elements of the programme were delivering awareness on schemes and programmes available in the concerned departments, health screening, and the creation of PMJAY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) health cards.

     

    Ms. Monica covered a few topics of organ donation during her session in the 3-day campaign. To name a few: 

    • MOHAN Foundation, its goals, and its objectives
    • The present scenario of organ donation in Manipur
    • Organ donation and its need
    • Types of donations
    • Simplifying brain death
    • Facts and myths about organ donation
    • The story of deceased organ donations in Manipur
    • The process of corneal donation and the eye banking system
    • How to pledge or sign up for organ donation
    • The importance of family consent in the process of organ donation

     

    After each session that Ms. Monica presented, participants received Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on organ donation in the local language to help them understand the topic better.

     

    At the end of the campaign, Mr. Khumancha extended his gratitude to all the officials from different departments and participants who attended the programme despite their busy schedules.

     

    Close to 270 participants attended the campaign. 140 participants on Day 1, 75 participants on Day 2, and 55 participants on Day 3.
