


On 23rd October, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation and transplantation was organized for the students of the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), Chennai. Ms. Kavitha. S, Mr. Prakash. K, Mr. Jeyabal. M, Transplant Coordinators’, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai represented the Foundation at the session.
TNDALU was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of State Legislature. It was inaugurated on 20th September, 1997 by His Excellency Mr. K. R. Narayanan, then President of India. The University started functioning from 3rd October, 1997.
Ms. Kavitha spoke to the audience about organ donation. She elaborated on the following topics: difference between brain death, cardiac death and coma; importance of carrying a donor card; procedure followed for eye donation; and about the Transplantation of Human Organs Act. Further; she encouraged each one of them to take responsibility to spread awareness about organ donation.
Around 95 students and 2 faculty members attended the session and all of them signed the donor card.
