On 23rd October, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation was organised at Presidency College, Chennai by the NCC and NSS students. Ms. Kavitha S, Mr. Prakash K and Mr. Jeyabal M; Transplant Coordinators’ from MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted the session.
Dr. R. Sabanayagam, Principal, Presidency College delivered the welcome address and introduced the MOHAN Foundation team. Mr. Prakash spoke to the audience about organ donation. He also differentiated between brain death, cardiac death and coma. Further; he explained about eye donation, organs that can be donated and about the donor card.
150 students participated in the session and 118 students picked the donor card. Brochures with detailed information about the issue were also distributed to the participants.
