An eye donation awareness session was conducted on January 31, 2026, at the Walkathon assembly point held at S.T. Kadam School Ground, Palghar, as part of the Mahadrishti Project. The session was facilitated by Mr. Nikhil R. Nagarkar with the objective of creating large-scale awareness about eye donation and encouraging community participation in this noble cause.
During the session, detailed information was shared on the importance and process of eye donation, including eligibility criteria and the steps to be followed at the time of donation. Common myths and misconceptions were addressed and clarified with factual explanations, helping participants gain a better understanding of the subject. Attendees were encouraged to pledge for eye donation and to act as ambassadors for spreading awareness within their communities.
Approximately 700 individuals attended the session, reflecting overwhelming participation from the community. As an outcome, 39 participants came forward to pledge for eye donation, demonstrating strong commitment toward the cause.
This landmark initiative under the Mahadrishti Project brought together around 700 participants, including dignitaries, educational institutions, partner NGOs, and healthcare leaders—united by a shared vision of promoting eye donation awareness and restoring sight.
The event marked several significant milestones, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Health Department, the organization of an on-site eye screening camp, and enthusiastic participation from students and community members.
