MOHAN Foundation invited as faculty in the workshop on Donation after Cardiac Death at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi

  • On January 18, 2015, MOHAN Foundation was invited as faculty in the 1st Consensus Meeting on Donation after Cardiac Death organised by Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi.

     

    The primary objective of the workshop was to create awareness about donations after cardiac death and to discuss its scope and future. Maj. Gen (Dr) L. R. Sharma ( Additional Director Medical Services, Apollo Hospital, Delhi) gave the welcome address and introduction.

     

    Dr Muneet spoke on,"Incentive to Donor Family:Is it ethical," and the session was chaired by Dr. Shaleen Aggarwal, Liver Transplant & GI Surgery, Apollo Hospital, Delhi and Dr. Viniyendra Pamecha, Additional Professor in Liver Transplant, ILBS, Delhi.

     

    The workshop was attended by transplant coordinators, transplant surgeons from government and private hospitals, officials from DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, NOTTO and ORBO. It addressed the following areas:

    • progress in brain death donation in India
    • progress in donation after cardiac death in the west
    • heart transplant after cardiac arrest
    • AIIMS must show the way for DCD donation
    • legal issues in ML cases in Delhi
