  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr. Srilatha, Anesthesiologist at NTR Government Hospital Hospital, Vijayawada, to conduct a sensitization program for their staff members on organ donation on 17th January 2015. The participants included doctors and HODs of various departments, nursing staff, OT staff, technicians, administrative staff and other staff members.

Ms. Shanthi of MOHAN Foundation spoke about importance of deceased organ donation, eye donation, benefits of transplantation and played awareness films of MOHAN Foundation on organ donation, T.H.O 1994 Act, concept of brain death and myths surrounding organ donation. We have also indicated that grief counseling in Osmania Hospital and Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad is handled by the counselors and MOHAN Foundation is fiercely working towards making transplantations available at government hospitals and in turn making it available to all the sections of the society.

There were more than 30 staff members that have actively participated in the event and were distributed donor cards, family donor cards, information brochures and activity reports.

The presentation and the videos were well received and the doctors and staff members were very keen to know more especially on donor maintenance, retrieval and logistics involved in organ harvesting. Most importantly, they have come to a resolution that all the members of hospital should work as a team in making transplantation a success and applauded the role of MOHAN Foundation in promoting deceased organ donation across India.

We thank Dr. Srilatha and Medical Superintendent of NTR Hospital for helping us in organizing such an event and for taking this noble initiative to promote organ donation among their staff members.
