MOHAN Foundation conducted Organ donation session in Sasoon Hospital

  • On 10th January 2024, organ donation awareness talk was organised by Mr. Jagdish Borude, transplant coordinator, MOHAN foundation at Health Check up  camp, organised by Sassoon General Hospital,Pune at Mangalwar Peth, Pune. The main aim of this program was to spread awareness and sensitise general Public about organ and body donation.The this campaign, the general public were sensitised about importance of organ and body donation.Also general information on how to take pledge as an organ donor was elaborated. following topics were discussed on organ and body donation during interaction to people.
    1.Concept of organ donation and tissue donation

    2.Concept and definition of Brain death

    3.Types of death- Brain death and cardiac death

    4.Organs and tissues donated after brain death and circulatory death

    5.Why organ donation is important in India?

    6.How one can save lives of 8 people

    7.Body donation and its importance.

    8. Ischemic time of each organ and tissue

    9. THOTA act 1994 and its importance.

    Following Questions were asked by people who came to pledge as an organ donor.


    1.Is body handed to family after organ donation?

    2.What is the age limit for organ donation ?

    3.Can Hypertension and Diabetic patients donate organs?

    4.Is organ donation happen when death happens at home?

    5.After taking pledge as an organ donor, how hospital or organ donation authorities will come to know about death of organ donor?

    Mr Jagdish answered all the questions asked by people and cleared their doubts.


    The motive of the program was to aware general Public about organ and body donation.There were 70 people took pledge as an organ donor and 100 people sensitised. At the end of the program, Dr Sabale from Dean office, Sassoon Felicitated Mr. Jagdish Borude.
