Updated on Tuesday, December 2, 2025
  • On November 08th, the MOHAN Foundation, in strategic partnership with Worley and supported by Global Events & Entertainment, successfully executed an Organ Donation Awareness Walkathon in Hyderabad. This crucial initiative was aimed at elevating public awareness regarding the urgent and critical need for organ donation. The event was officially flagged off by Senior Transplant coordinator Dr. Bhanu Chandra and Senior employee Kiran from Worley.

The walkathon commenced at 6:00 AM from the Gachibowli Stadium, covering a significant route that included the stadium perimeter, ISB Road, and the vicinity of the Microsoft Office before concluding. This route was chosen to effectively engage the corporate and residential communities in the area.

    • Approximately 200 employees from Worley demonstrated strong corporate social responsibility by enthusiastically participating. They carried informative placards, successfully raising community awareness about this life-saving cause.
    • Global Events & Entertainment generously supported the participants with T-shirts.

The program began with an essential introductory session outlining the mission and activities of the MOHAN Foundation. Dr. Bhanu Prakash, Transplant Coordinator, formally welcomed the attendees. A dedicated information Kiosk, managed by Project Manager Venkatesh Kattela, distributed donor cards and educational leaflets to attendees.

In his address, Dr. Bhanu Chandra, Senior Transplant Coordinator at MOHAN Foundation, underscored the serious imbalance between the rising number of patients awaiting organ transplants and the critically low rate of organ donors. He clarified that while organs like the kidney can be procured from living donors, vital organs including the heart, liver, lungs, pancreas, and kidneys can also be retrieved from brain-dead individuals, offering the potential to save up to eight lives. Dr. Bhanu Chandra delivered a potent call to action, urging citizens to commit to organ donation to significantly bridge the gap and save countless lives.

The participants expressed their profound gratitude to the MOHAN Foundation for orchestrating this high-impact event. This walkathon is anticipated to significantly boost the cause of organ donation not only in Hyderabad but also throughout the state of Telangana.

The subsequent participation in the Walkathon at Gachibowli stadium further reinforced the message, demonstrating how community-focused events can effectively merge a fitness challenge with a noble social cause, raising awareness for organ donation while simultaneously encouraging a healthier lifestyle.
