A traditional Thougal Jagoi performance, symbolising joy, unity, and community bonding, set an inspiring tone for the evening. This was followed by a short film tracing the journey and progress of organ donation in Manipur, highlighting key milestones achieved over the years.

In her address, Ms. Pallavi Kumar spoke about the significant transformation of transplant facilities in both government and private sectors. She emphasised that Manipur was steadily progressing towards self-reliance in kidney transplantation, ensuring dignified, accessible, and affordable care within the state. She underscored the importance of strengthening local transplant infrastructure and sustaining collaborative efforts to build an effective and equitable transplant ecosystem.

The screening of “The Legacy of Love” followed, portraying how a donor’s legacy continues through the lives restored by organ transplantation. The film powerfully illustrated how a single selfless decision can bring hope and healing to multiple families.

A special felicitation ceremony was held to honour donor families and transplant recipients for their extraordinary generosity and resilience. Donor families shared emotional reflections, expressing comfort in knowing that their loved ones became heroes through organ donation. Recipients conveyed heartfelt gratitude, sharing stories of renewed hope and new beginnings. Several also expressed their willingness to pledge as organ donors in the future, continuing the cycle of generosity.

Mrs. Mutum Usharani Devi, wife of Sarungbam Kennedy Singh, shared that her husband had performed the most meaningful act, adding that she often tells her child that his father is a hero.

Another short film, “Because Someone Said Yes,” was screened, highlighting the journeys of kidney and corneal transplant recipients and demonstrating the tangible, life-changing impact of organ donation.

The dignitaries delivered encouraging messages and acknowledged the pivotal role of MOHAN Foundation in advancing transplant initiatives in Manipur. Shri Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh emphasised the need to examine the high incidence of kidney failure in the state and advocated focused research to identify long-term solutions, assuring government support for collaborative efforts.
