MOHAN Foundation Conducts an Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Regional Transport Office. (R.T.O), Nagpur

  • MOHAN foundation was invited by Mr. Sahebrao Sherke, RTO officer, Nagpur branch to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for drivers who apply for vehicle  registration and driving License on August 21, 2015.

    Mr. Bulu Behera delivered a talk on Organ donation. In his talk he explained the following:

    Importance and need of Organ donation:

    • Types of donations –Live and deceased donation
    • Difference between Natural death, Coma and Brain Death.
    • THO Act and myths related to Organ donation
    • Eye donations
    • Body donation
    • Preservation time of Organs.
    • Importance of Donators card, Helpline number and website.

     

    It was a very interactive session. The participants raised queries about organ sharing and allocation, contradictions in donating organs and tissues, whom to be contacted in case of emergency.

    The Participants asked the following questions.

    How can we believe that after donating organ, commercial dealings will not happen?

    How can we do Living Transplantation if Donor and Receiver are from a family but their blood groups are not matching?

    How many people have registered for Organ donation at MOHAN Foundation?

    How much time is required for Eye Retrieval?

    At the end of session Priceless Gift brochures were distributed.
