On March 10, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on organ donation at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Mantripukhri, Imphal East, Manipur. The session was led by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.
The session was organised in collaboration with Mr. Kiran, Program Head, Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy).
Ms. Priya began by introducing the team and explaining the concept of organ donation. She described the organs and tissues that can be donated and clarified the difference between living organ donation and deceased organ donation, helping participants understand both processes clearly. During the session, she highlighted that many patients remain on waiting lists and depend on the generosity of donors for a second chance at life.
She also informed participants about the procedure for pledging organ donation and explained how the pledge system works. She emphasised that even if a person has registered as an organ donor, the consent of the family is still required for organ retrieval after death. She concluded the session by encouraging participants to consider organ donation as a meaningful act that can save lives and offer hope to those in need.
Information pamphlets on organ donation were distributed at the end of the session to reinforce the key messages shared. Nearly 30 participants attended the session and gained valuable insights into the importance of organ donation, the pledge process, and the urgent need for donors.
