MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sarangpur, Chandigarh

  On 14^th January 2021, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Mukesh Kumar, NSS Program Officer in Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sarangpur, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NSS students. Approximately 80 students from class 12^th attended the session.

   

  Mr. Mukesh Kumar, NSS Program Officer addressed the students and gave a brief introduction on organ donation to their students.

   

  Students were given an introduction & presentation on how important is organ donation and tissue donation and too many people waiting for transplant by Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch.

   

  In this talk, she explained the following points: -

  • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
  • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
  • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on organ donation
  • Difference between natural death and brain death
  • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
  • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
  • Importance of the Donor card
  • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation website
  • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

   

  It was indeed an amazing session. All the students were highly motivated and said they will come forth to make it success in their areas. In the end, 45 students asked for the donor cards.
