On June 21, 2026, an Organ Donation Information Desk was organized in conjunction with a Blood Donation Camp conducted by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in collaboration with Lions Clubs of Kelambakkam and MOHAN Foundation at Husainy Elementary School, Ramapuram, Chennai.
Mrs. Arshiya Fathima, Senior Project Officer, MOHAN Foundation, and Ms. Nivedha, Intern from Manipal Institute of Higher Education, manned the information desk. The desk displayed educational brochures on organ donation, cornea donation, and lung health. Informatiol materials were distributed to visitors, and awareness was created on the importance of organ and tissue donation. Members of the public actively engaged with the staff and intern, showing keen interest in understanding the concept and process of donation.
Some of the common queries raised by the public included the process of whole body donation, how corneal donation is carried out, and the difference between coma and brain death. These discussions helped address misconceptions and provided accurate information about organ and tissue donation.
Approximately 100 information brochures were distributed during the event. A total of 16 individuals expressed their willingness to pledge for organ and cornea donation. The participants were highly interactive, demonstrated a positive attitude towards donation, and enthusiastically came forward to pledge their organs.
MOHAN Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to Mr. Yuvaraj, MLA, TVK, and Mr. Ratinavel of Lions Club for providing the opportunity and extending their support in setting up the information desk and promoting the noble cause of organ and tissue donation. Their encouragement and cooperation contributed significantly to the success of the awareness initiative.
