  • An eye donation awareness session was conducted on February 10, 2026, at Dr. M. L. Dhawale Memorial Trust Hospital, Palghar, with the objective of educating participants about the importance of eye donation and encouraging them to contribute to this noble cause.

     

    The session was facilitated by Ms. Prachiti Mali, who provided detailed insights into the concept of eye donation and its significance in restoring vision through corneal transplantation. She elaborated on the causes of corneal blindness, the importance of corneal tissue, and the necessary precautions to be considered for successful donation. The eligibility criteria, including the age factor, were also discussed, emphasizing that individuals of most age groups can donate their eyes.

     

    In addition, the session covered important legal aspects related to eye donation, including consent procedures and the role of family members. Ms. Prachiti also addressed common myths and misconceptions associated with eye donation, offering factual clarifications to enhance participants’ understanding and confidence.

     

    A total of 85 participants attended the session, reflecting strong interest and engagement. The participants were attentive and actively involved, making the session informative and impactful in spreading awareness about eye donation.

     

    The program successfully contributed to increasing awareness and motivating individuals to consider eye donation as a meaningful way to give the gift of sight.
