The MOHAN Foundation led an awareness session on organ donation at Cloudnine Hospital, Dwarka on November 26, 2025. The event was conducted by Programme Officers Ms. Simran along with Ms. Annie from the NCR office of the Foundation.
After giving an overview of the Foundation at the start of the event, Ms. Annie continued by discussing organ donation, and its current situation, particularly in India. A detailed presentation was then given by Ms. Simran, who spoke about the various concepts surrounding organ donation that included explaining about living and deceased donation, eligibility of the donor in living and deceased donations, The Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994, about brain death, eye donation, and the myths surrounding organ donation.
She further clarified the distinction between brain death and coma, as well as the medical process determining brain death. For more clarity, a brief film about brain death was shown to the audience. The presentation concluded with discussing a case of organ donation.
As the session came to a close, participants began asking questions like, “What happens if I’m registered as an organ donor but my family objects?”, “What is the cost of each organ transplantation?”, and “Why is the transplantation cost so expensive?”. Followed by answering the doubts, Ms. Simran encouraged the audience to learn more about organ donation and how it improves peoples’ lives. She emphasized the value of being informed about such fundamental information, as it can be of use to anyone at any point of time.
A total of 26 hospital employees attended the session that included nurses, human resource staff, and admin staff.
