Awareness session held at Skin OPD and ENT department of B.J. GMC, Pune

• On 17^th Aug 2021, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on Organ Donation at main OPD section waiting area and Pulmonology Department of B.J. GMC, Pune. Mr Jagdish Borude along with Dr Shubham organised this campaign as a part of World Organ Donation Day celebration. An informative desk was also manned at main OPD section waiting area along with informative fliers on Organ Donation for the public.

  (Transplant Coordinator) began session by elaborating MOHAN Foundation mission, vision and activities to the participants. He briefly explained about Organ and Tissue donation. The following topics were explained in detail to the audience:

  MOHAN Foundation and its activities

  • Brain Stem Death
  • Circulatory Death
  • Organ allocation system
  • Eye, Skin & Bone donation
  • Importance of a Donor Card

  During the interaction, the audience raised questions related to the following:

  • In coma condition why patients cannot donate their organ.
  • Unclaimed body are used for study purpose.
  • Brain Stem Death Certification Process.

  About 30 students attended the awareness session and 20 pledged online to become Organ Donor. We would like to thank Skin OPD and ENT department of B.J. GMC Sassoon General Hospital, Pune for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
