Awareness program on Organ Donation by MOHAN Foundation at Chandpur Higher Secondary School, Chachu, West, Tripura

  • An awareness program on Organ Donation was organized at Chandpur Higher Secondary School, West Tripura, on August 14 2025, with the objective of educating students and staff about the significance and impact of organ donation. The program was organized for the students of class- XI & XII as well as the teachers from the school. Ms. Sumita Debbarma (Headmistress) and Ms. Sima Debbarma (Asst. Headmistress) coordinated with MF, Tripura to facilitate the program.

     

    Mr. Vincent Debbarma (Project Lead, Tripura) and Ms. Nipa Modak (Program Executive, Tripura) represented MOHAN Foundation.

     

    The program commenced at 12:30 PM in the school class room with an introductory speech by the Ms. Sumita Debbarma, who emphasized the importance of such awareness initiatives in shaping a socially responsible younger generation.

     

    Mr. Vincent delivered a talk on organ donation. He introduced MOHAN Foundation and shared insights into its mission and various initiatives. He discussed the meaning and importance of organ donation, types of donors, types of organs and tissues that can be donated, brain death, coma, explaining about cornea as well as the Transplantation of Human Organ Act 1994 passed by the Indian government. Participants were also provided with leaflets on organ donation.

     

    About 29 people including the students and teachers participated in the program. Educational pamphlets were distributed. The students as well as the teachers showed keen interest on the topic.

     

    The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Sima Debbarma. This awareness campaign was a significant step in promoting a life-saving cause and instilling compassion and civic responsibility among the youth.
