Awareness Talk and Stall on Organ Donation at Casa Rio Cricket Ground, Palava, Dombivili

  • On 19th and 20th January 2019, MOHAN Foundation Mumbai was invited by Apollo Hospital for conducting an awareness talk & installing an informative stall on organ donation at Casa Rio Cricket Ground, Palava, Dombivili so that pupil & Cricketers will get sentient & take pledge for Organ Donation.

    On 19th January 2019, Dr. Jimmy introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation past 21 years. She explained the difference between Cardiac Death & Brain Death in-depth. Then she elaborated about the organs & tissues that can be donated by both the cases. She also introduced the public about new advances like Hand & Uterus transplant.

    On 20th January 2019, Mrs. Jigisha Yadav & Mr Akash Salve attended the event and broaden the message of Organ Donation. They explained that MOHAN foundation is an acronym for “Multi Organ Harvesting Aid Network”. Mrs. Jigisha Yadav shared about its mission and objectives and then started explaining about what organ donation is, when, who, why and how it can be done. She also explained the THOA law related to organ Donation.

    She briefly focused on the need of organs, India’s organ donation rate by giving the example of Mr. Vilas Rao Deshmukh (former CM of Maharashtra). She also explained about the religious barrier and myths related to organ donation.

    About 14 teams (11 members from each team) attended the event visited our stall and showed their support for Organ Donation. Information brochures were distributed in public. Many took the pledge form and many told they will discuss at home and will fill the form online.

    We are very grateful to Mr. Sanjay Singh (National Head of transplant department from Apollo) and Mr. Nilesh Kadam (Community connect from Apollo) Mr. Jatin Mohan and Mr. Rohan Kabadi (Committee member of Casa Rio) for supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
