On December 11, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, Tripura, conducted an awareness program on organ donation at Bijoykumar Girls H.S. School, Krishnanagar, Agartala, West Tripura.
The session was led by Ms. Nipa Modak, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation. The primary objective was to educate Class XII students about the importance of organ donation, the current need in India and Tripura, and the vital role students can play in spreading awareness about this life-saving cause.
Ms. Modak introduced the mission and activities of MOHAN Foundation and provided a comprehensive overview of organ donation, including the types of donation, organs and tissues that can be donated, and the concepts of brain death and deceased organ donation. She highlighted the growing number of organ failure cases and the wide gap between demand and availability, with special emphasis on recent developments in Tripura following the launch of the organ donation and transplantation program.
Common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation were addressed, helping students gain clarity and confidence on the subject. Informational leaflets on organ donation were distributed to reinforce key messages and encourage informed discussions.
The session concluded with a call to action, motivating students to pledge for organ donation and act as ambassadors for the cause within their families and communities. The students participated actively and raised questions related to donation procedures, consent, and the role of young individuals in promoting organ donation.
A total of 32 students attended the program.
