On December 6, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal, conducted an awareness session on organ donation at the New Outpatient Department Block of RIMS, Imphal.
The session was led by Ms. Moirangthem Priya, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation Imphal, and was organised in collaboration with Ms. Chongtham Pritam Devi, Medical Social Worker (Assisting Transplant Program), RIMS Imphal, as part of the ongoing public education initiatives.
Ms. Pritam introduced the session with an interactive discussion on the participants’ existing knowledge of organ donation. She explained the various organs and tissues that can be donated and clearly differentiated between living and deceased donations. She also highlighted the current status of organ donation in Manipur, noting that kidney transplant services are available at both RIMS and JNIMS in the government sector.
Ms. Priya further addressed the demand and supply gap of organs in the state and encouraged participants to raise awareness on deceased organ donation. She dispelled common myths and misconceptions and emphasised that organ donation can offer new hope and save lives.
The session concluded with an expression of appreciation for the participants’ engagement and encouraged them to consider pledging their organs. Information pamphlets were distributed to enhance understanding and address any remaining questions.
Close to 80 participants attended the session and gained valuable insights. Two individuals came forward to express their willingness to pledge for organ donation and conveyed their deep appreciation for the efforts being made in the service of humanity.
