On 23rd September, 2013 an awareness talk on organ donation was organised for the house keeping contract workers of Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) College and Hospital, Puducherry.
Mr. Ananth R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai addressed the gathering and spoke about deceased organ donation. The interactive session helped the workers to clarify their doubts.
The main topics discussed during the presentation were: the efforts made by MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the deceased organ donation programme; about live and deceased organ donation; brain death: how it is different from natural death and coma; and the organs that can be donated after brain death and after cardiac death.
All the 110 participants picked up a donor card.
