Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35D, Chandigarh

  • On 10th April 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur and Mrs. Neelam, NSS Program Officer in Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35D, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their NSS Students. Approximately 50 students from class 12th attended the session.

     

    Mrs Ramandeep Kaur, NSS Program Officer addressed the students and gave a brief introduction on Organ Donation to their students.

     

    Students were given an introduction & presentation on how important is organ donation and tissue donation and too many people waiting for transplant by Ms. Aakriti Negi.

     

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

    All the students got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. Students did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation.
