  • On November, 22 2025, MOHAN Foundation’s representative, Ms. Prachiti Mali, conducted an awareness session on eye donation for the employees and staff of Jyeshta Nagrik Bhavan, Palghar. The objective of the session was to enhance understanding of eye donation and to encourage informed discussions among the participants.

Ms. Prachiti explained the key concepts related to eye donation, including corneal blindness, its causes, precautionary measures, and the eligibility criteria for donating eyes. She also highlighted the legal framework surrounding eye donation and addressed several myths and misconceptions that often prevent people from pledging. Through clear and factual explanations, she ensured that participants gained a correct understanding of the donation process.

A total of 28 employees and staff members attended the session. Although no pledges were recorded, the participants showed keen interest and interacted actively. Some of the questions raised during the session included, “Is a Donor Card compulsory for donation?” and “What is your cornea?” Ms. Prachiti clarified that while a Donor Card helps express one’s wish to donate, it is not mandatory, as the decision ultimately requires family consent. She also explained the structure and function of the cornea and its significance in restoring sight through transplantation.

MOHAN Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Jyeshta Nagrik Bhavan, Palghar for their cooperation and for supporting the noble cause of organ and eye donation by organizing this awareness session.
