An awareness session on eye donation was conducted for the employees and staff of Chirayu Children’s Hospital at Palghar and Homoeo Care Clinic on Thursday, November 13, 2025. The program aimed to spread accurate information about eye donation and to address doubts related to the process. Ms. Prachiti Mali from MOHAN Foundation was invited as the resource speaker.
Ms. Prachiti Mali began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and highlighting its mission of promoting organ and eye donation across the country. She then explained the concept of eye donation in detail, covering corneal blindness, its causes, necessary precautions, and eligibility criteria. She emphasized that there is no upper age limit for corneal donation and clarified that most individuals, regardless of age or common health conditions, can donate their eyes after death.
The session also focused on the legal aspects of eye donation, including the role of the next of kin in providing consent and the importance of informing the eye bank within six hours of death. Ms. Prachiti addressed several myths and misconceptions associated with eye donation and replaced them with clear, factual explanations to help the audience understand the process more confidently.
A total of 25 employees and staff members attended the session. The participants showed interest and engaged with the information shared. The session helped enhance awareness among healthcare staff, who play a crucial role in promoting donation-related knowledge in the community.
MOHAN Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to Chirayu Children’s Hospital at Palghar and Homoean Care Clinic for supporting the cause of organ and eye donation by organizing this awareness session and encouraging their staff to learn and participate.
